while the center thickness of high water content lens is designed to be thicker.
3. Oxygen permeability coefficient: related to lens material, lens water content and lens design.
4. Diameter: 14. mm
(This is the most common contact lens diameter range, some brands of color contact lenses for aesthetic purposes,
the diameter may exceed this range, but should be considered in practical use.)
Encyclopedia of Contact Lens Parameters
Water content
The cornea is a transparent membrane located on the front wall of the eyeball. It is full of nerves but no blood vessels. It needs oxygen from the air. Contact lenses (also called contact lenses) directly cover the cornea. Therefore, when the oxygen permeability of the lens material is poor, it is necessary to transmit oxygen to the cornea through water.
However, the water content is not as high as possible, and it is best to choose lenses with appropriate water content. Lenses with a water content of less than 38% are called low water content lenses, 42%-60% are medium water content lenses, and more than 60% are called high water content lenses.
Oxygen permeability
The oxygen permeability is expressed by the oxygen permeability coefficient (Dk) and the oxygen permeability (Dk/t), so the higher these two values, the better.
Material
Common soft contact lenses (contact lenses) are ordinary contact lenses that are easy to buy in optician pharmacies, and the traditional material is hydrogel (HEMA). HEMA has poor oxygen permeability and needs to rely on the water in the lens to supply oxygen to the cornea. It should not be worn for too long.
Wearing cycle
Common contact lenses include daily, semi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and annual contact lenses. Generally speaking, the shorter the wearing period of contact lenses, the healthier it is. It is recommended that babies who wear contact lenses often choose the shorter half-monthly period. , Monthly throw.
Base arc
The base arc reflects the radian of the lens, the larger the value, the smaller the radian. The curvature of the eyeball needs to be checked before the first prescription of glasses, and the lens with the appropriate base arc should be selected according to the curvature of the eyeball, which is generally around 8.6. Wearing lenses with an inappropriate base curve can cause discomfort or slippage.
